A BRIEF OF HISTORY

The Faculty of Dentistry was founded in 1931 at the Tashkent Medical Institute of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In 1935, it was reorganized and introduced as a course in the medical faculty of the institute. However, at the request of the time, the Faculty of Dentistry was restored on August 3, 1954 as a separate faculty. Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Associate Professor R.S. Sagatov and the rector of the institute, associate professor A.G. Gulamov made a great and invaluable contribution to the opening of the dental faculty. Also at the opening of the Faculty of Dentistry, Honored Doctor of the Republic, Associate Professor M.V. Paradoxes. In the same year, 113 students were admitted to the Faculty of Dentistry.
At the end of the 20th century, 28 doctors of medical sciences, professors, more than 120 candidates of sciences, associate professors, about 80 assistants conducted their scientific and pedagogical activities at the Faculty of Dentistry. The scientific potential was 60%.
During this period, 1783 students studied at the five courses of the faculty. Classes were held in medical centers of specialized departments. These are the bases of the best, prestigious dental clinics and research dental centers in Tashkent.

During the years of independence, the Faculty of Dentistry has established friendly relations with many foreign dental centers and associations. These include: South Korea, USA, Turkey, Bulgaria, Israel, Germany, Georgia, Russian Federation and others. In particular, close contacts were established with the Association of Dentists, Professors and Teachers of South Korea. For many years, since 1999, dentists in South Korea have been organizing seminars and lectures on topical issues of dentistry for students and young scientists of the Faculty of Dentistry. Since 1996, the best and most active students have been awarded the Yang Yu Sik scholarship, created by a leading Korean scientist, professor, doctor Medical Sciences Yan Yu Xikom. Since 1997, a special scholarship has been introduced by Prokterend Gembl.
In order to further improve the system of training highly qualified medical personnel at the level of international standards and standards in the field of dentistry, strengthen and develop the educational and material and technical base, the corresponding modern organization of the educational process, the introduction of advanced information, communication and educational technologies, as well as the close relationship of theoretical knowledge with practical skills, the first President of the Republic of Uzbekistan I.A. Karimov on July 22, 2014, No. PP-2215 issued a Resolution “On the formation of the Tashkent State Dental Institute” on the basis of the dental faculty of the Tashkent Medical Academy, as well as in the regions of the republic to open branches of the faculties of dentistry of the Andijan, Bukhara and Samarkand medical institutes.
In connection with the creation of the Tashkent State Dental Institute in the 2014-2015 academic year, three dental faculties functioned. This is the Faculty of Dentistry in the direction of surgery, the Faculty of Dentistry in the direction of general medicine and pediatric dentistry. Each faculty consisted of seven departments. Of the 21 departments, 11 were organized on the basis of specialized dental departments.
The team of the Institute of Dentistry sets itself the goal of activating organizational, scientific, educational, educational, methodological and medical work as a priority. They believe that the most important thing is to timely introduce their achievements into healthcare practice, train qualified dentists, increase the role of students in public life and fulfill the tasks set for the university.
After the establishment of the Faculty of Dentistry (1954), the position of Chief Dentist was introduced under the Ministry of Health. This position was occupied by master dentists.
The Tashkent State Dental Institute was organized in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan PP – 2215 dated July 22, 2014 to train highly qualified personnel in the field of dentistry. Among the main activities of the new institute is the training of highly qualified medical personnel and scientific specialists in the field of dentistry, who meet modern requirements and own the advanced technologies of modern dentistry. The Institute is engaged in the implementation of scientific and practical research and development in the field of dentistry, maxillofacial surgery and other areas, including the use of advanced achievements in biotechnology, cellular and regenerative medicine. To date, training at the institute is carried out in 2 areas of education in a bachelor’s degree,
The student body is 1662 people. Of these, 50 are graduate students and 164 are clinical residents. In accordance with the Presidential Decree of October 30, 2017 “On Amendments and Additions to Certain Acts of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, the following changes have been made to the structure of the Institute: – Faculty of Dentistry; – Faculty of Pediatric Dentistry; – Faculty of Medicine and Education; – medical Faculty; – faculty of advanced training.
